A single calibration ties together MQ’s fundamental reference uncertainties

The fundamental length, mass, and time calculations share the inverse fine-structure input and its covariance.

· Recorded source version · Retrospective release

CHICAGO — source review records a coherent numerical set of fundamental length, mass, and time references calibrated through the 2022 recommended inverse fine-structure input. Their International System of Units realizations are expressed in meters, kilograms, and seconds. The reference values carry propagated source-input uncertainties within the MQ calculation.

Figure 1 summarizes the source result and its evidentiary scope.

Propagated input error excludes model discrepancy

Figure 1. Source-based summary of the construction and its stated limits. The panels organize the cited facts; they are not an additional physical derivation or a new observation.

The three uncertainties share an upstream calibration. Treating them as independent measurements would misstate the uncertainty of a product, ratio, or derived constant. Correlation must remain attached when those references are propagated into further expressions.

The stated errors also exclude an independently estimated theory-discrepancy contribution. They quantify sensitivity to the supplied input under the adopted defining relations. They do not establish how accurately nature follows those relations or whether an omitted realization effect is negligible.

This calibration organization is a reproducibility result for the constants program. It allows different manuscripts to use the same reference set and exposes incompatible mixtures of input editions. The October source date identifies the recorded construction, rather than a new laboratory determination of fundamental measures or an independently established minimum interval in nature.

Archive date and research status

The date identifies the documented source-version or research-review snapshot used for this retrospective account. It is not an established original discovery date, original release date, or journal publication date. The accessible preprints linked here may include later revisions.

This entry was prepared on October 25, 2026. The date above identifies the documented source or review milestone, rather than the date this wording was first issued. Later terminology and evidence qualifications are included for accurate current reporting.

Source-checked conditional calculation or internal closure; shared calibration retained; not an independent experimental validation.
