MQ reconstructs a metric from realized separation

The geometric result supplies a kinematic foundation while leaving dynamics to a separate action principle.

CHICAGO — Measurement Quantization reconstructs local geometry from the way realized separation changes between nearby endpoints. The source-version construction offers a proposed route from discrete relational counts to a continuum metric, subject to smoothness and nondegeneracy conditions. It does not introduce a metric as an independent primitive of the underlying count description.

A metric specifies local intervals and geometric relations. Here it is obtained by differentiating a squared two-point separation once at each endpoint and then taking the endpoints to coincidence. In the current convention the mixed-endpoint formula carries a negative one-half factor. Both the endpoint prescription and that sign are essential to the construction.

The result provides geometry rather than a complete law of gravitational evolution. Figure 1 separates the starting point, geometric reconstruction and additional dynamical requirements.

The underlying Internal Frame contains discrete count configurations. Observable separations and continuum geometry belong to the System Frame, connected through the Frames mapping. A drawn surface or coordinate grid illustrates that realized geometry; it is not a directly observed microscopic lattice inside the count domain.

Under the stated constant local conversion from length coordinates to count coordinates, the two derivatives cancel the explicit squared fundamental-length factor in the separation expression. The resulting metric components are dimensionless in that chart. This cancellation does not eliminate physical units or the need to specify calibration and coordinate conventions when making an observable prediction.

The reconstruction is kinematic. Its extension to a dynamical gravitational account requires the MQ Action and MQ variational principle, admissible variations, a suitable connection, causal and regularity conditions, and conservation. A local metric identity alone does not choose a particular spacetime solution.

The result should therefore be reported as a defined step in the research program. Rotation-curve agreement does not by itself determine the full relativistic metric of an extended galaxy or its lensing observables. The companion Brief explains the exact endpoint construction, a worked sign check, the count-coordinate cancellation and the calculations still needed to connect the geometry to such tests.
