First MQ paper sets out a count-based approach to physical measurement

The 2018 publication introduced a proposed common description of quantities used in classical and quantum physics.

· Historical publication release

CHICAGO — A paper by Jody A. Geiger published on April 27, 2018 introduced Measurement Quantization as a theoretical approach to expressing physical quantities through counts of fundamental measures. The publication established the starting point for the MQ journal record and a program intended to connect descriptions used across classical and quantum physics.

The paper’s central move was to examine what changes when measurement is treated as count-resolved rather than assumed to be continuously divisible at every level. Its examples addressed gravity, natural scales, and cosmological quantities. These were theoretical constructions and comparisons with existing information, rather than a new laboratory campaign conducted for the paper.

In current terminology, the Internal Frame is the underlying discrete count-configuration domain, while observable quantities and geometry belong to the System Frame. The Frames mapping connects those descriptions. This terminology explains the research today; the original article contains earlier language and formulations.

The distinction between rewriting an established expression and predicting an independently measured quantity is essential to evaluating the work. A mathematical representation must be assessed through its assumptions, calibration inputs and physical realization. A numerical agreement that reuses an input is a consistency check rather than another independent measurement.

The title Measurement Quantization Unites Classical and Quantum Physics identifies the published article. The research contribution at this milestone was the introduction of a proposed framework. Whether its underlying measurement mechanism describes nature remains a question for specific derivations and independent tests.

The publication created a record against which later revisions and claimed predictions can be checked. The companion Brief provides the count construction, a worked example, historical source values, current dimensional distinctions, and a reporting guide.
